Description:Brendan Edward Doyle was born in 1948, the third of six children of John and Adela Doyle of Bay de Verde. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1966 and went on to attend Memorial University for a period of two years which allowed him to begin a thirty year teaching career in his hometown of Bay de Verde. Summer school sessions and full time attendance in 1989 enabled him to complete a Bachelor of Arts (Education) degree from Memorial. Brendan has been very active in his community for all of his adult life. In 1975 he was elected to the first functioning Municipal Council for Bay de Verde where he served as Town Clerk, Councillor, and Mayor. In 1985 he became one of the founding members and the first Commanding Officer of the 295 Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps that was established at Bay de Verde. Brendan has also been a very active member of Assumption Parish Church serving in a variety of ministries. For the past six years he has been an active member of the Bay de Verde Heritage Committee and is presently serving as its vice-chairperson.
