Rasor's nonpartisan Project on Military Procurement, which served as a conduit between Pentagon whistle-blowers and the press, has chronicled a sorry tale of institutionalized inefficiency, cover-ups, shoddy military hardware, downright graft, and lack of concern for the safety of American fighters in combat. On the list of turkeys she plucked are the M-1 and -60 tanks with their engine and transmission defects, and the C-5 transport, to name a few. Her project examined readiness problems in the armed services, the systematic withholding of information from Congress, and the revolving door spinning retired military officers into corporate positions in the defense industry.
