Description:Excerpt from Archiv fur Mikroskopische Anatomie, Vol. 31: Fortsetzung von Max Schultze's Archiv fur Mikroskopische Anatomie Das Geruchsorgan des Neunauges erscheint im Gegensatz zu diesem Organe anderer Fischarten unpaar. Es ist dies ein knor peliges Gebilde (der Form nach einer Kapsel ahnlich), welches im vorderen Theile des Kopfes, vorn am Gehirn liegt. In seinem unteren Theile, welcher der Schadelkapsel anliegt, ist der Knorpel durch Bindegewebe ersetzt, welches hier eine Oeffnung bildet, die in die Mundhohle fuhrt. Ausser dieser Oeiinung befinden sich daselbst noch drei: eine oben am Kopfe zur Verbindung mit der ausseren Luft und dem Wasser, die beiden ubrigen, unmittelbar dem Lobus olfactorius anliegend, dienen zum Durchgange des Nervus olfactorius.
