Description:Excerpt from Transactions of the Medical Society of the State of North Carolina: Eighty-Second Annual Session Held at Pinehurst, North Carolina; May 6-7-8, 1935 Note: In 1890 the Medical Society of the State of North Carolina adopted the plan of electing members of the Board in such a manner that the terms would expire at different intervals of two years. This practice was followed for twelve years, or until 1902, when the plan was abandoned; an equivalent of two terms of six years each. It is evident that the Society arranged to abandon the policy as early as 1898, as two members were elected for short terms, and two years later two other members were elected for still shorter terms. It is therefore impossible to separate the sixth and seventh Boards. Since the membership was overlapping.
