Warriors and Fools (Textbook Series, #2)

Harry Rothmann
4.9/5 (28714 ratings)
Description:This book and its accompanying other volume constitute the textbook edition of my work Warriors and Fools. I have decided to make my original work - still available in their eBook, hardbound, and paperback form - into this textbook edition of two volumes. That way I can share with readers the important pictures, maps, diagrams and tables that I had gathered in my research but did not include in my original work. My intent is to provide a manageable textbook with the additional information of my research that teachers, students, scholars and veterans can have access to and use in their study of the Vietnam War. This Volume II includes the remaining two parts of the textbook. Chapters eight through ten, or the third part of the textbook, give the view of the American military commanders who were charged by their civilian superiors to wage war in Indochina and Vietnam. It covers how and why they developed their theater military strategies to achieve what they thought their civilian leaders told them to do and narrates how they went about to execute those strategies. It further explains their successes and failures in executing their military strategies through the battles and campaigns fought. In the fourth, and final, part I explain what I think are the most important lessons of our experiences in the Vietnam War from both volumes, why we lost and how, and how we further have or have not learned from them in our application of military power since. This volume concludes my story. As explained in Volume I, the essential points of this textbook edition remain the same as my original work. First, both US civilian and military leaders charged with making decisions and executing them during the Vietnam War failed America and its soldiers. Second, they also failed others, particularly the South Vietnamese, who depended on the US to keep its commitment to an independent South Vietnam free of communist subjugation. The reasons for these failures are explained throughout and take a different view than what most historians have offered. Unfortunately, they may not surprise some veterans. We have made it easy for you to find a PDF Ebooks without any digging.
