Little Mister

A humorous and heartwarming novel that explores life, love, and loss through the eyes of Little Mister, a mischievous and curious cat who mingles with a wide range of human and animal friends in his Amsterdam neighborhood over the course of one year.

Little Mister, a charming and curious cat with a crooked head, follows the scent of adventure on his walks through his beloved neighborhood in Amsterdam. While seeking out the tastiest snacks, he reflects on the traumas of his early life and the humans who have welcomed him into their homes—especially his beloved Chef, even if her insistence on a vegan diet is a constant source of friction. When Chef and her partner Milkstache are struck by a great loss, it’s Little Mister who knows exactly what they need. He is indispensable.

As Little Mister ventures farther afield from his safe haven, he prowls the historic streets of the city, introducing readers to a colorful cast of locals. There is the Messiah, an eccentric, elderly woman who can make Little Mister’s culinary fantasies come true; Stinky, a young boy quietly struggling to come to terms with the loss of his father; and the Acrobat, whose legs are failing him and spends his days watching reality TV. When tragedy strikes the close-knit community, Little Mister finds himself grappling with his own confusion and grief while trying to provide comfort to the humans he loves. As he curls up next to them in their darkest hours, he discovers the healing power his companionship brings.

Funny and moving,
Little Mister
