Taboo and Transcending Tales: of Historical Sci-Fi & Fantasy

Challenge your beliefs with a thought-provoking collection of historical Sci-Fi and fantasy tales by award-winning author Rich DiSilvio.

Melding historical figures like Sir Walter Raleigh, Thomas Paine, Ernest Shackleton and Roman emperors with time travel, politics and religion, DiSilvio weaves fascinating tales of spiritual, philosophical, and societal import, some of which are dystopian, while others are considered taboo by today’s standards.

Also included are uplifting tales of Christian icons, such as St. Francis and St. George, that touch upon the supernatural, eliciting transcending visions of wonder.

Included in this volume is the novelette “Paine and the Grandest Illusion,” which presents Paine’s controversial views on religion, as well as mentioning his fellow Founding Fathers, who were in fact not Christians, but rather Deists, who refuted the divinity of Jesus and only believed in a Creator or Nature’s God.

DiSilvio's clever and entertaining tales not only combine the past with the future but also pose many thought-provoking issues, some centuries old that still reverberate today.

For as the author said, "The masses had believed the Earth was the center of the universe for thousands of years until awakened with reality. Hence fallacies often prevail until bold thinkers, like Copernicus, Galileo and others, expose the ignorance to reveal the truth."
