Social interaction has never been something I’ve excelled at. Growing up, the expectation was always to be better, smarter, stronger than my classmates. Those expectations left me struggling to be the best, and as a teen turned me into a bully. I’ve spent my adulthood atoning for the sins of my youth. Working as a teacher helps me prevent today’s teens from being bullies like I was, but I’ve never become better at connecting with people my own age.

My inability to interact well leads me to making what could be the worst mistake of my life when I fumble a clumsy proposition to fake date the new creative writing teacher. I intended to give her a way to pay an emergency expense without damaging her pride, and instead it looks as if I’ve upgraded myself from the sanctimonious prick she avoided into a coworker she sees as a charitable friend.

Before the clock on our fake dating scheme runs out, I’ve got one shot to prove I’m more than my history as a bully-turned-social-hermit appears. This is my last chance to bully my way past my insecurities and into her heart. Can I do it?

This is the story of Jeremiah Graley, the antagonist from my first Man of the Month book, Pi means Forever. You do not need to read that book to enjoy this one, but for those of you who wanted to know what became of Jeremiah, this one’s for you.
