Locked Away: Stolen Innocence

Little Chrissy had it all: a mother she thought loved her more than life itself,and a father that doted on her. That is, until the night her mother abandoned her. With her mother gone, her father's life spiraled downward. And when it did, so did hers. He kept her locked up in her bedroom which became her little prison cell. His nose flared and his eyes blazed with anger. The man came closer. He raised a hand and backhanded me across my face. The pain exploded through my cheek. At the same time my legs folded beneath me and I crumpled to the floor.

From the floorboards, I looked up and saw my stepmother’s hang-out buddy standing over me. Out of desperation I tried to bargain with him. “If you go now, I promise I won’t say anything about you being in here.”
