Harriet: A brother's bestfriend, hidden marriage romance (Rich and Dangerous Series Book 3)

Harriet

At ten years old, I knew I loved Giovanni Ricci, my next-door neighbour, the boy with kind eyes and a big smile—my brother's best friend—who comforted me in my treehouse when I was sad. Gio promised me then that he would marry me someday when we were older. But then he left without saying goodbye.

Years later, he returned, but he wasn’t the Gio I remembered. His eyes held secrets, and there was a darkness about him.

‘The Devil’ was his nickname.

I tried to forget him and stay away, but I couldn’t resist falling in love with him again. Now I wear his ring after a secret ceremony. Our relationship has been hidden for years.

My brothers still see me as a little girl who makes bad decisions they need to protect me from. They don’t know the real me or what I am capable of.

Soon, the secret will be out. That I made a deal with The Devil.

Giovanni

Harriet Williams was always meant to be mine. Every smile, laugh, and tear that left her belonged to me. I was a broken boy who found refuge next door at my best friend's house. They showed me kindness when all I knew was darkness.

My father put me on a plane in the middle of the night, taking me back to Italy, clutching my broken ribs from his latest ‘lesson’. After that, I vowed to end his life someday.

When I returned to the U.K., I had one to make Harriet Williams mine. Darkness had changed me, but one thing remained the same—my heart belonged to her.

Danger surrounds me. Death is near, but nothing and no one will take my wife away. I am the devil by name and by darkness.
