Claimed by the Ash Warlord (Brides of the Citadel Orcs #4)

He burns with a fever that kills. She’s the only one cold enough to survive him.

Torin is an Orc Warlord of the Ash-Born, a refugee leader fleeing a tyrant from the deep tunnels. He is made of obsidian skin and magma veins, a creature of volcanic heat who burns everything he touches.

But on the frozen surface, his internal fire is killing him. Locked in quarantine, wracked by the delirious heat of the Ash Fever, he prepares to die rather than incinerate the fragile humans trying to save him.

Then she walks in.

Elara has spent her life being the fragile one. The sick human girl. The burden. But the experimental treatments that saved her life left her with a secret: her skin runs colder than winter ice. When the massive Ash Warlord collapses, she is the only healer who can touch him without blistering.

Torin tries to push her away. He knows the danger of the Ash Fever and the primal, mindless Rut that follows. But Elara refuses to leave. She isn’t afraid of his fire; she’s drawn to it.

As assassins close in and the fever strips away Torin’s control, the Healer and the Warlord discover a bond that defies biology. He needs to be cooled. She needs to be warmed. And when the beast takes over, he doesn't just want to be healed...

He wants to claim.
