In 1822, Mary Wyndam is engaged to the man of her dreams, who also happens to be the son of the wealthiest family in London. With money and power comes security and comfort. But, when a letter is delivered to her, it brings shocking news that will change her life forever. Jane, Mary's daughter, discovers that she has the ability to switch places with people. When she is given a second, third, and fourth chance at life she must decide who makes the sacrifice for her gain and who she is willing to give it all up for in the end. Thanks to Jenkins, that decision comes sooner rather than later.

Jenkins came from nothing, was given everything and lives his life trying to help make other people's lives better. Now in 1996, he discovers the terrible truth about his past and he is forced to make an impossible decision; prevent the same terrible fate from happening to someone he cares about or turn his back on the person he trusted the most.
