The Welsh Cottage Killings (Michael McKenna #1)

Previously published as Simeon's Bride.

In the isolated forests of North Wales, a brutal murder pulls DCI McKenna into a case that’s darker, and closer to home, than he ever imagined.

A badly decomposed body is discovered hanging in woods near a North Wales village. Detective Chief Inspector Michael McKenna is called to investigate. At first, the death appears to be a suicide. But the woman’s wrists are bound. She can’t have killed herself.

If you ask the irrational locals, her death is tied to a curse that haunts the woods.

But McKenna has no time for curses or ghosts. He deals strictly in evidence and motive.

The deeper he goes, the clearer it becomes that the killer’s motive is rooted in something long buried.

Under mounting pressure to let the case fade away, McKenna is driven by a simple, stubborn resolve — someone did this, and someone must answer for it. Even if the truth unsettles this superstitious village.
