Aftershock

I’m stalking a man with dark, terrifying secrets, and I still can’t bring myself to fear him.

How can I, when he’s the doctor who saved my life?

That’s what Dr. Alaric Lockwood said when I told him I didn’t think I was going to make it.

He stayed true to his word. I’m alive because of him.
I should be grateful and move on like he did.
Impossible.

Years have passed since that night, and I still can’t get him out of my mind.
That’s why I’m back in town. Why I’m not going anywhere.
Why I don’t question my fixation on him, even when I catch him doing things he shouldn’t.

We’re meant to be.
Slowly but surely, he’s starting to see it too, growing as obsessed with me as I am with him.

The only problem is, he won’t open up about the dark secret I uncovered while stalking him.
If he thinks I need protecting from that side of him, he’s wrong. I’m not fragile. I won’t break.

But since he doesn’t know it yet, I’ll have to do something drastic to convince him…
