Discovery (D Notice, #1)

When ancient aliens return, secret organisations gather, gods panic, modern government secrets start to crack — and Cassie is caught in the middle. Being a Glaswegian civil servant who saves the world can be a tough gig.

Cassie Bell is a young government intern who moonlights—unwillingly—as part of a celestial clean‑up crew keeping humanity safe from "Them". Ancient magic is leaking back into the world, gods are annoyed, and the aliens who started it all are almost finished counting down to their return.
To survive the countdown, Cassie must team up with a sharp‑tongued witch and morally flexible retired gods. Because something ancient is stirring — older than gods, older than magic, older than the lies holding the world together. All Cassie wanted was a quiet life, a stable pension, and a job that didn’t involve endless paperwork.
T‑minus 10 days until humanity becomes a cautionary tale.
