The Broken Knife (The Broken Knife #1)

In a world where magic decides who lives and who dies,

Kaz was born on the losing side. A kobold in a ruthless hierarchical society, he never expected more than survival - until humans arrive hunting ancient secrets, and everything changes. When Kaz forms an impossible bond with a young dragonling, he's thrust onto a dangerous path of cultivation that could either kill him or give him something he never dared freedom. Deep in the mountain, forgotten powers stir, and Kaz must grow stronger - or be crushed by those who already are. A slow-burn progression fantasy with a non-human hero, deep worldbuilding, and the quiet defiance of a kobold who refuses to accept his fate.
