A Southern Lady’s Guide to Revenge

Rule
Still waters run deep.
The calm on the surface tells you nothing.

In Blackwater Parish, some things are meant to stay forgotten.

Suffocating Louisiana heat. Storms that gather without warning. A bayou lying dark and patient. Blackwater Parish is a Southern Gothic psychological thriller of revenge and reckoning, where beauty and menace exist side by side and nothing stays buried.

When Catherine Beaumont wakes in an unfamiliar house with blood beneath her nails and no memory of how she got there, she is told she is sick. Her husband calmly recounts episodes she cannot remember and gaps in her past she cannot explain. The medication will help. The isolation will keep her safe. And the past, he insists, is better left alone.

But beneath grand porches and manicured land lie old loyalties, inherited power, and secrets passed down like heirlooms. As certainty slips, the carefully maintained façade of respectability begins to erode. A silent housekeeper. A town that watches too closely. A patch of disturbed ground beneath an ancient oak. And a voice calling her to uncover what was buried.

Dark, atmospheric, and unflinching, Blackwater Parish is a slow-burn psychological thriller that explores memory, control, and vengeance in a world where justice is patient and truth is rarely what it appears to be. This Southern Gothic tale asks how far the past will reach to protect itself and what it costs to reclaim a voice never meant to be heard.

For readers of domestic suspense, psychological thrillers, and Southern Gothic fiction.

Blackwater Parish by Natalie Horseman is the first novel in A Southern Lady’s Guide to Revenge series.
