Northampton, 1941. Eve Kenning dreams of becoming a mother. But somewhere in Germany, her husband is a prisoner of war.

She longs for his return, and for the child the doctors say she will probably never have.

Then the billeting officer knocks, and Sally Tyler is standing on her doorstep. She’s twenty years old, barely married, and a long way from home.

The two women share the little house through the war. But when Sally falls pregnant and the father wants nothing to do with her, Eve offers to raise the child as her own.

Just as Eve gets everything she ever wanted, Sally changes her mind.

Then, on a bitter night in the middle of an air raid, Eve does something she will regret for the rest of her life.

She will carry that night for twenty years . . . and the little girl she loves will never know what it cost.

Spanning two decades of hardship, hope and buried truth, Someone Else's Daughter is a powerful saga of family, betrayal and a mother's unbreakable love.
