Basil Has Thoughts: On Media: A Funny Cat Book About Humans, Social Media and Modern Life

Basil has thoughts about modern media. Unfortunately for humans, he has been paying attention.

Television. Facebook. Instagram. X. Snapchat. TikTok. YouTube. Podcasts.

Humans have created more ways to communicate than ever before. They have also found more ways to argue with strangers, photograph their dinner, shout instructions at professional athletes, lose entire evenings to their phones, and watch other humans doing things they could quite easily do themselves.

Basil has questions.

Why must food be photographed before anyone is allowed to eat it? Why does My Human announce “We won” after watching a sporting event from the sofa? Why do teenagers send photographs to people sitting in the same room? Why would anyone watch a video explaining cat behaviour when an actual cat is available for consultation?

And why does everybody suddenly become an expert the moment they go online?

In Basil Has On Media, one highly judgmental cat turns his attention to social media, television, smartphones, internet culture and the increasingly strange relationship between humans and their screens.

The result is a dry, witty collection of observational humor about modern life, technology and human behaviour, seen from the perspective of a cat who remains completely certain that he could manage things better.

Perfect for readers who enjoy funny cat books for adults, sarcastic cat humor, social media satire, internet and technology humor, funny observations about modern life, and books for cat lovers.
