Journal of the Alleda
Overview
Rather than feed you some AI ‘enhanced’ tosh here are some genuine 5* reviews of
the book…
In the broad world of sailing few sailors ever venture to sea and fewer of these ever
complete a circumnavigation of the world, of which few write about their voyage.
Here is one such voyage conducted by a ‘weekend sailor’ in an ageing catamaran,
quite modestly. The writing is engaging without being dramatic as the author lets the
story speak for itself. In the end I found it a very enjoyable read, even the second
time around. This is a sailing yarn with many of the elements that made Hiscock,
Pardy and Smeeton so well regarded. Readable to both kinds of people, those that
sail and those that don’t. Australia Reader
Solo circumnavigation with your standard British humor. One of the better cruising
books on the market. Totally relatable in many respects. USA Reader
A day sailer gone AWOL on a truly remarkable scale. I marvelled at Philips audacity.
He doesnt dwell on the nautical or technical challenges but they must have been
significant and if I had one criticism, I would like to have know more. The tale of
adventure and travelling to cultures and places you or I can only dream of, is
inspiring and thought provoking. UK reader
Enjoyed this book very much. Quite different to most of the sailing books I’ve read. A
very frank story told with determination to complete an incredible journey. USA
