The Doom of Principal City

Russian satirical surrealist Yefim Zozulya's story “The Doom of Principal City” was first published in 1918.

“The Big Book of Science Fiction” (2016) is the first publication of this story into English. The editors, Jeff and Ann VanderMeer, say:
“Our dear friend Vlad Zhenevsky, who sadly passed away shortly after finishing his translation” of “Principal City,” Jeff said, “gave us leads into much more of his fiction. If it’s of the same quality, this is a major find, and someone should do a collection.”
