Description:This book extends the current, increasing arguments about the ability of Western sociology to explain the contradictions and crises in Western capitalism. It argues for the rejection of Western, sociology and presents an alternative body of analysis to it. It contends that the purpose of social theory must be clarify and explain the complexities of social reality as they are experienced by ordinary people that Western sociology fails to do this because it rests on an assumption which grossly distorts that reality. The first part of the book presents the general case for the rejection of Western sociology. The second part shows that the dominant models in sociology, particularly as they are used in the study of organizations, are based on a misrepresentation of social reality through their assumption that societies are relatively static, basically unchanging phenomena. It illustrates that this misrepresentation has led to a concentration on trivia and a diversion from any substantial issues which might result in unsettling questions being asked. It emphasizes that Western sociology has the important political consequence of making it appear that the source of all social problems lies in the trivia and not in the structure of society itself.
